Three people injured in Round Rock train collision

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Three people were injured Sunday when two construction trains collided in Round Rock.

According to the Round Rock Fire Department, crews were called to the scene around 1 p.m. about 500 feet west of A.W. Grimes Boulevard near Highway 70. There, a Union Pacific crew was working on railroad lines when two construction trains carrying a total of three people collided on an elevated portion of the tracks.

The fire department said technical crews were able to reach the victims and take all three to the hospital with apparently non-life-threatening injuries.

The rescue took about 45 minutes, firefighters said.
