Man in critical condition after shooting in Downtown Austin Saturday morning

One suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man is in a critical condition after a shooting in Downtown Austin early Saturday morning.

According to the Austin Police Department, at approximately 12:35 a.m. on Nov. 23, officers were working their assigned patrol area when they heard gunshots near the 600 block of Trinity Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, a male victim was located with gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in a critical condition but stable, APD said.

Officers on foot pursued several people in the vicinity of the shooting and detained them for questioning.

One suspect, later identified as Joshua Desuan Gamble, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
