Homeowner Cynthia Walker remembers a bluebonnet field at the intersection of Parmer Lane and McCallen Pass.
Now, weeds crawl through an unfinished apartment complex left mid-construction.
"It's ugly. Nobody wants ugly in their neighborhood," said Walker.
Set to be IO at Tech Ridge, the complex seemed stuck in time. Some windows are broken, walls are unfinished, the plastic wrapping on the outside tattered and blowing with the breeze.
"It can't get any worse. Even if it burned down it couldn't be worse," said Walker.
On Thursday, the KVUE Defenders learned the sign posted out front is old.
Attorney "Eric Taube" sold the property for the owner in a private auction May 8th.
Karlin Real Estate won the $10,850,000 bid.
The company is the same group behind the Parmer Innovation Center.
The plans for the center include space for 3M and Home Depot across the street.
The deal on the abandoned complex will close in a few weeks. Executives close to the project said it's too early to tell what the lot will be used for, but it will somehow be incorporated with the Innovation Center.
"I'm so happy y'all told me about it," said Walker.
Walker said there's hope that a popular eyesore will have a brighter future.
