SB U.S. 183 frontage road to experience lane closures, says TxDOT, APD

The lane closures follow fires at a homeless camp located underneath the highway that left the area cluttered with dangerous debris.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Austin Police Department announced on Monday that there would be lane closures on the frontage road of southbound U.S. 183 throughout the week.

According to TxDOT, the right two lanes of the Anderson Lane frontage road will be closed between Blessing Avenue and Cameron Road from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Wednesday.

APD said lane closures should be expected in the area from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. APD also said the Austin Watershed Protection and Public Works departments would be working to clean up trash and debris from under the bridge.

The lane closures follow fires at a homeless camp located underneath the highway that left the area cluttered with dangerous debris. According to the Austin Fire Department, there were hundreds of needles located on the ground.
