AUSTIN -- The Center for World Rankings placed the University of Texas at Austin No. 29 among the world's top 1000 universities for the 2014 year.
The CWUR uses eight measures to rank the world's top universities. Those measures include: Quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, publications, influence, citations, broad impact and patents.
University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is the only other Texas university in the top 100. It is ranked No. 66. Texas A&M and Rice University are not far behind at No. 105 and No. 108, respectively.
Harvard University came in at the top of the list.
Last year the University of Texas at Austin ranked No. 26, and in 2012 the university ranked No. 30.
