SAN MARCOS — A shocking video taken Monday shows several cans left in the San Marcos River following Memorial Day weekend.

The video captures several alcoholic beverage cans left in the river despite the fact that littering in the San Marcos River is strictly prohibited.

In fact, tubers are expected to carry a litter bag to dispose of their trash while they're floating the river, according to Comal Tubes. However, that doesn't stop litterers.

"Despite all the regulations and the clear negative impact that littering has on the river, a lot of tubers still go the easy route and throw the empty liquid containers into the river," said Comal Tubes.

According to Comal Tubes, the minimum fine for littering in the river is $250.
