GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Williamson County District Attorney’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Georgetown man convicted of sexual assault who skipped his sentencing on Thursday.
The district attorney’s office said 44-year-old Augustine Dafe Ikolo was found guilty in November 2023 of assaulting a woman he met on a dating app. He could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 for his crime.
“After conviction, prosecutors from the District Attorney’s Office requested that Ikolo be detained without bond pending his sentencing hearing,” said Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick in a release on Saturday. “Retired visiting Judge Rick Kennon denied this request over prosecutors’ objections.”
Dick said Ikolo is a Nigerian citizen with a prior federal conviction involving falsifying visas and other identifying information. He was released on a $75,000 bond.
Ikolo did not show up at the Williamson County Courthouse for his sentencing and is now wanted by law enforcement, Dick said. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
“This decision by the visiting judge has put the public at risk and denied justice to the victim,” said Dick. “Ikolo is a dangerous predator who should have been detained so he did not have the opportunity to flee. We will do everything in our power to bring him back and make him face the consequences of his crime.”
Anyone with any information on Ikolo’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 and inform authorities he has an open warrant. You can also contact Williamson County Crime Stoppers anonymously at wilcocrimetips.org or by calling 1-800-253-7867.
