CEDAR PARK, Texas – Authorities are investigating two fires at a Cedar Park Walmart to determine if they were intentionally set early Wednesday morning.
A Cedar Park spokesman said firefighters were called to the store at 201 Walton Way (near U.S. 183/Bell Boulevard and RM 1431) around 1:45 a.m. Nov. 22, and that crews located fires in two separate locations. The building’s sprinkler system extinguished most of the fire while firefighters put out parts of the fire the sprinklers did not get.
No one was injured, according to the Cedar Park Fire Association.
Walmart spokesman Charles Crowson told KVUE the store will remain closed as the investigation continues and the company assesses the damage. Associates will be reassigned to other stores so they will not lose pay during the closure, he added.
Jackie Sinclair took video of the fires and posted them on Facebook. (May contain strong language.)
CPFD said they spoke to a person at the fire, but did not say if anyone had been arrested.
