Liberty Hill police chief resigns after 7 years of service

Lt. Jeff Ringstaff will serve as the interim police chief, effective immediately.

LIBERTY HILL, Texas — After seven years of service with the city, Royce Graeter is resigning as the police chief of Liberty Hill.

The city told KVUE Graeter submitted his resignation effective Monday, Aug. 12.

“The city is graciously thankful for the years of service that Chief Graeter has given to the Liberty Hill community,” the city said in a statement.

Graeter started with the Liberty Hill Police Department as a patrol officer on Feb. 6, 2017, and was appointed chief of police on May 5, 2020.

His appointment came after city leaders fired Maverick Campbell from his position as chief. Campbell later filed a grievance and lawsuit alleging the mayor abused his position.

Lt. Jeff Ringstaff will serve as the interim police chief, effective immediately.
