Construction to begin next week on Wishbone Bridge near Longhorn Dam

The Wishbone Bridge over Lady Bird Lake will have paths for pedestrians and cyclists in three directions.

AUSTIN, Texas — Construction will begin next week on a new bridge at Longhorn Dam in East Austin.

The Wishbone Bridge over Lady Bird Lake will have paths for pedestrians and cyclists in three directions.

Construction will cause some road and parking closures starting on July 8. There will be detours on the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail starting on July 15. The detour is expected to last about 18 months.

The new bridge is part of the city of Austin’s Longhorn Dam Multimodal Improvements project and will connect to the existing Butler Hike and Bike Trail at three points: Longhorn Shores, Holly Shores and the unnamed peninsula near Holly Shores.
