Police have identified the woman killed in a Feb. 17 crash at U.S. 183 and Loyola Lane as Monica Rodriguez, 27.
APD said from their preliminary investigation that Rodriguez was traveling northbound on U.S. 183/Ed Bluestein Boulevard around 2:45 a.m. Feb. 17 when she struck a dump truck that was stopped at a red light. Rodriguez was taken to University Medical Center-Brackenridge, where she died from her injuries Feb. 26. The driver of the dump truck was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center and is expected to be okay.
The crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call APD Vehicular Homicide Unit detectives at 512-974-6935. This was Austin’s 10th fatal crash and 10th fatality of 2017 .
