New details after man killed near Fredericksburg following alleged drugging, kidnapping

Officials said the two recently met each other and were on a planned weekend together before the shooting.

GILLESPIE COUNTY, Texas — An investigation is ongoing after a man was shot to death in Central Texas.

According to the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office, a woman called police Friday afternoon stating that she had shot someone after being kidnapped and drugged. Authorities later identified the man as 49-year-old Lance Reid.

Sheriff Buddy Mills said Amy Maynor Lejeune made the call off US 290, near a Fredericksburg winery. The two were both from the Houston area and recently met each other. According to Mills, they were on a planned weekend together at the time of the incident.

"Disbelief. Lance would never do anything like that," Barry Reid, Lance Reid's father, told KVUE's Houston sister station KHOU. "He was not a violent person. Very sociable. He certainly wouldn't have to kidnap someone. That would be ridiculous."

According to Barry Reid, Lance Reid lived in the Houston area after about 10 years of living in Austin.

Officials said Lejeune won't face charges.

"We are still investigating it," Mills said. "We will be moving forward with the investigation. But no, she was taken to the hospital and checked out and released later on."
