AUSTIN, Texas — An Austin resident says they plan to retire and enjoy life now that they've won millions from a Lotto Texas jackpot.

The Texas Lottery announced Monday that the Austinite won a prize worth an estimated annuitized $29 million for the drawing held on June 24. The winner chose the cash value option at the time they purchased the ticket, so they received $16,643,761.41 before taxes.

The winning Quick Pick ticket – which was purchased at the Salt Springs Xpress on Salt Springs Drive in southeast Austin – matched all six of the numbers drawn.

The winner elected to remain anonymous but did share some details with the Texas Lottery. They discovered they had the jackpot-winning ticket while they were off from work and described feeling "very excited, but normal and down to earth," deciding to simply enjoy the rest of their day off.

The winner had previously won "small cash prizes" when playing other games and told Texas Lottery they intend to “retire and enjoy the rest of my life” with their jackpot winnings.

Lotto Texas drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:12 p.m.
