Police said the attempted robbery happened at a Wells Fargo bank in northwest Austin.

AUSTIN, Texas — A man was arrested Saturday after police say he attempted to rob a Wells Fargo bank in northwest Austin, according to APD.

APD said it received a call about the robbery at 10:19 a.m. Saturday and arrived on scene within four minutes.

Police said the suspect entered the bank and passed a note to the bank teller demanding money. The teller gave the robber an undisclosed amount of money and officers were able to arrest the suspect as he was leaving, police said.

The Wells Fargo bank, located in the 13700 block of Research Boulevard, was closed Saturday as police interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video, according to APD.

Police said this was the twentieth bank robbery in Austin in 2018.
