WASHINGTON — The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards returned just nine months after the last celebration of the best television.
Leading the nominations ahead of Sunday's ceremony was the FX series "Shogun," who had already swept at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony last weekend.
January's celebration saw "The Bear" and "Succession" dominating at the 75th Primetime Emmys. While "The Bear" is likely to extend its accolade streak this weekend, there's a "Shogun" is looking to take over the drama category.
The father and son duo of Eugene and Dan Levy, the winning stars of the 2020 Emmys with their show “Schitt's Creek,” will host. The show begins at 8 p.m. Eastern and will be broadcast by ABC.

Who votes for the Emmy Awards?
The more than 17,000 voting members of the TV academy are eligible to decide nominees and winners in 14 categories, including drama, comedy and limited series. The acting awards, including lead, supporting and guest actors, are determined by peer groups, as are directing, writing and other individual areas of achievement. The number of nominees in most categories generally is tied to the number of submissions, with exceptions including best comedy and dramas series: They get eight nominees each.
