Unaccompanied veteran burial to be held at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery

Specialist Hugh Gary Bryan isn't expected to have anyone attend his funeral, as no next-of-kin could be contacted.

KILLEEN, Texas — Texas Veterans Land Board Chairman George P. Bush announced Thursday that on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m., the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen will conduct an unaccompanied veteran burial for Specialist Hugh Gary Bryan, a U.S. SP5 Army veteran.

Spc. Bryan isn't expected to have anyone attend his funeral, as no next-of-kin could be contacted.

Cemetery staff have coordinated with the Fort Hood Casualty Office to ensure Spc. Bryan will receive full military honors.

If no next-of-kin presents themselves at the burial, a representative of the Veterans Land Board will accept the U.S. flag on Spc. Bryan's behalf.

The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery is located at 11463 State Highway 195 in Killeen.
