Neither candidate got more than 50% of the vote during the general election on Nov. 5, so a runoff election is scheduled for Dec. 14.

AUSTIN, Texas — The city of Austin will host a panel Wednesday with Mike Siegel and Gary Bledsoe, candidates for the city council District 7 runoff election.

Siegel, Bledsoe and four other candidates ran to represent District 7, which covers primarily northwest and North Austin, as current Councilmember Leslie Pool is term limited. But none of the candidates received more than 50% of the vote, so Siegel and Bledsoe – the two candidates how got the highest percentages of the vote – are now headed to a Dec. 14 runoff.

Before then, the city wants to give voters the opportunity to listen to both candidates and learn about their positions.

The panel will be held Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Austin City Hall Council Chambers. Those unable to attend in person can watch the event live on ATXN.TV or listen on KAZI FM 88.7.

This panel is one of several that the city, its Ethics Review Commission and the League of Women Voters Austin Area have sponsored for council candidates in this year's election.

Ahead of the panel, voters can suggest questions for moderators to ask the candidates by emailing forum@lwvaustin.org or calling 512-451-6710.
