AUSTIN – Travis County Assistant District Attorney Gary Cobb filed paperwork Wednesday to be on the primary ballot in 2016 for Travis County District Attorney.
Cobb filed to be on the primary ballot as a democrat. He temporarily put his campaign on hold in October after his son Kenan passed away.
Cobb told KVUE Wednesday that he plans to crack down on DWIs in addition to prosecuting more violent criminal cases.
"I think we could do much better in prosecuting DWI cases and that will be one of the main things I will focus on is our prosecution of DWI cases, not waiting for someone to get their 10th DWI and 9th DWI, we're going to be harsher when it comes to felony DWI," he said.
Cobb has been with the Travis County District Attorney's Office for 25 years, and first announced his intention to run for district attorney in May. He is currently running unopposed.
