Both VP Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump to be in Texas on Friday

Harris will campaign in Houston, while Trump will be in Austin for an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

AUSTIN, Texas — Both Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump will be in Texas Friday, as both candidates are making a last-minute push in the Lone Star State.

Harris will hold a campaign rally in Houston, where she will appear with the likes of Willie Nelson, DJ Trife and Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles, with Nelson and Trife both scheduled to perform at the vice president's rally.

Meanwhile, Trump will spend his Friday in Austin, where he will record an interview with comedian and UFC commentator Joe Rogan on his popular podcast.

Joshua Blank, the Research Director for the Texas Politics Project at UT, said Trump will be targeting a specific audience.

"Notable features of this election has been young men's openness to Trump as candidate," Blank said. "It is still a Democratic group, but Trump is trying to get better margins with young male voters and the Joe Rogan podcast is a great way to get to that segment of the electorate."

Harris has also been on the podcast circuit, making appearances on the Call Her Daddy podcast and the All the Smoke podcast hosted by popular media personality Charlamagne the God. In addition to traditional TV interviews, Blank said these appearances represent a good way to reach a desired demographic.

"Podcasts are one of the most direct ways to reach certain segments of the electorate," Blank said. "We know who listens to podcasts, candidates and campaigns have a lot of information about subscribers to podcasts."

Trump's campaign said he will also briefly speak to local media at a private terminal at the Austin airport upon his arrival.

"Without a doubt, Donald Trump will be talking about border security," Blank said.

As for Harris, Blank said this trip isn't just about her candidacy.

“Texas is becoming more of an interesting state, more of a target for Democratic effort to get control of the Senate [and] maintaining control of the Senate," Blank said. "I think Harris is here to support Allred’s candidacy against [U.S. Sen. Ted] Cruz in the final days, and hopefully for herself pickup campaign cash on the way out for the final stretch."
