AUSTIN, Texas — A new report outlines the multi-million-dollar price tag of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial.
The state released invoices and receipts to the Dallas Morning News – and the overall cost was $4.3 million.
Documents show around $3.3 million of that total was billed to Paxton's prosecution. Lawyers billed more than 7,800 hours of work on the trial.
But the Dallas Morning News notes that the overall cost analysis isn't complete. The report said there is at least one lawyer invoice that wasn't included in the paper's records request.
However, that number is on the way. After the trial ended, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said he would conduct a full audit. The Texas State Auditor's Office recently started that process.
