AUSTIN, Texas — A Democratic presidential candidate is stepping up his efforts to win Texas.
This weekend, Michael Bloomberg plans to open two new campaign offices in Central Texas. According to the Texas Tribune, his campaign plans to open 11 additional field offices across the state of Texas as he prepares for the primary election on March 3.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, he's opening an office in San Marcos on North Edward Gary Street not far from Texas State University campus. And on Sunday, Feb. 16, Bloomberg's campaign is opening an office in North Austin on West Anderson Lane near LA Fitness.
Another Democratic presidential candidate, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, is also opening a campaign office in Austin located along East Cesar Chavez Street. His campaign also plans to open offices in Dallas, Houston, McAllen and San Antonio.
In the latest UT/TT Poll, Sanders has doubled his support among Democratic voters in Texas and now leads the race for that party’s presidential nomination in Texas. Early voting in the Texas primaries starts on Tuesday; Election Day – Super Tuesday – is March 3.
