Texas District 21 candidates Joseph Kopser (D), Chip Roy (R) and Lee Santos (L) are competing for one of the 36 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The District 21 race is important because this seat could shift power in Congress. Republicans currently control the House, but if the Democrats gain 25 seats, they would take control.
District 21 covers all of Gillespie and Blanco counties as well as parts of southwest Austin, Hays and Comal counties.
Kosper is a West Point graduate and Army Veteran who founded the mobility company RideScout. Kosper also spent time campaigning for former President Barack Obama. For more information about Kosper, click here.
Roy -- who most recently serves as the VP of Strategy for the Texas Public Policy Foundation -- earned his JD here at the University of Texas at Austin. Roy served as the First Assistant Attorney General of Texas and as a United States Attorney in the Eastern District. Roy was also Sen. Ted Cruz's Chief of Staff and an advisor to former Governor Rick Perry. For more information about Roy, go here.
Libertarian candidate Lee Santos will also appear on this ballot. For more information about her, visit her website here.
