AUSTIN, Texas — Another weak round of spotty afternoon showers are in the forecast for Sunday afternoon. The best chance of rain will be for areas east of Interstate Highway 35.
Some areas could easily pick up a tenth to two-tenths of an inch of rainfall. Showers will not become severe however, lightning and thunder could be possible.
A change will follow at the start of the workweek as high pressure will build in from the west making for a mainly dry and hotter weather patter next week.
Highs above 100 and heat values above 105 are expected, with only spotty showers possible starting Thursday.
The lack of meaningful rainfall in the extended forecast is not good news, as the latest drought monitor is showing an increase in abnormally dry and moderate drought conditions across the area.
