AUSTIN, Texas — The search for a rapist continues after a woman was attacked in her northwest Austin apartment this week.
It happened at the High Oaks Apartments off Jollyville Road.
KVUE also learned police have put a rush on the DNA rape kit.
It was the middle of the afternoon Monday around 1 p.m. when Austin police say a man broke into a woman's home, raped her and ran off.
An apartment resident says he lives in the building right across from where it happened.
The complex sent out a letter: "An assault took place in an occupied unit."
Just one month earlier there was a similar attack at a northeast apartment complex on Clayton Lane. Police say around 2:30 a.m. a man knocked on the door, forced his way inside and raped a woman before leaving.
The day before that a woman was attacked in the Mueller neighborhood just before 6 a.m. A man covered her mouth and forced her to the ground, but she was able to fight him off and he ran.
This rash of attacks, while alarming, may or may not be connected, according to Austin Police Sergeant Gena Curtis.
"There is nothing at this point that leads us to believe that it is the same suspect. Obviously that could change during the course of our investigations."
For now they're urging people to keep an eye out and report anyone suspicious.
