Canadian company sniffing profits with canned fresh air

A Canadian company is breathing fresh air into the idea of canned fresh air.
Vitality Air's canned air product

TORONTO -- If you've ever seen the movie "Spaceballs," you probably remember the scene with the antagonist breathing in a can of "Perriair," or canned fresh air. That movie was released in 1987. Almost 30 years later, a Canadian company is breathing some fresh air into that idea, so to speak.

According to CNBC and the Daily Mail Online, a Canadian company called Vitality Air has been making money off of aluminum cans full of air the company claims is from the Rocky Mountains. The company is making most of its money selling online to China, which has one of the worst pollution problems in the world.

The company was founded by Moses Lam and Troy Paquette in 2014 and according to the Daily Mail, they travel to the mountains in Alberta for the fresh air that is pushed into large cans. The cans sell for between $10 and $20 and according to CNBC, the company hopes to ship 1200 bottles to China in the coming weeks.

The company's website offers products ranging in price from a few dollars to upwards of $40. According to the company, it has specially designed its bottles with a spray cap/mask to allow for "precision delivery" and that the product is 100 percent recyclable.

Somewhere Mel Brooks is either smiling or shaking his head.
