BCSO: Bus driver arrested in fatal crash; failed to render aid

Northside ISD bus driver is being charged with a felony for his alleged part in an early-morning accident Friday that killed one person.
Bexar County deputies said the driver of an 18-wheeler was trying to avoid hitting a school bus when he slammed into a Ford Focus. The bus kept going, unscathed, but a person remained pinned inside the wreckage. Details were limited but investigators told KENS 5 that someone died in the accident.

SAN ANTONIO -- A Northside ISD bus driver is being charged with a felony for his alleged part in an early-morning accident Friday that killed one person.

Authorities said the 54-year-old NISD bus driver, David Wayne, was the "non-contact" contributing factor of the crash.

According to deputies, the bus driver ran a stop sign, causing an 18-wheeler to swerve in order to avoid the collision; however, the semi truck crashed into a Ford Focus instead, killing the man inside of the car. The victim was later identified as 62-year-old Larry Salsbury.

The bus driver is charged with felony failure to stop and render aid.
