Man and 10-year-old boy killed in Fort Worth area plane crash

A 51-year-old man and a10-year-old boy are dead after a plane crash in Montague County, located northwest of Fort Worth.
Three people are dead after a plane crash in Montague County, located northwest of Fort Worth. According to FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford, a twin-engine Cessna 414 crashed under "unknown circumstances" just before 4 p.m. on Lone Star Road north of Bowie.The aircraft was then destroyed by fire.

Editor's note: The Department of Public Safety initially reported three people were killed in the crash. They have since verified that only two people died.

MONTAGUE COUNTY -- A 51-year-old man and a10-year-old boy are dead after a plane crash in Montague County, located northwest of Fort Worth.

According to FAA spokesperson Lynn Lunsford, a twin-engine Cessna 414 crashed under "unknown circumstances" just before 4 p.m. on Lone Star Road north of Bowie.The aircraft was then destroyed by fire.

The man was identified as Lawrence Liptack and the boy as Landon Liptack.

Emergency crews were at the scene all afternoon Friday. FAA investigators were on their way to the site and the NTSB had been notified. The NTSB will lead the accident investigation.
