HOUSTON -- A new campaign aims to inform Texans about a new DMV sticker policy for registration and inspection.

They call it "Two Steps, One Sticker" and it starts March 1.

First, you get your car inspected right before renewing your registration, and that registration sticker that arrives in the mail will also serve as proof of inspection.

During the first year you'll be able to renew your registration as long as you have a valid inspection sticker.

"I think Texans will just appreciate not having to keep track of two dates and have two different stickers on their window. Once the program is fully implemented you'll have that one registration sticker on your window and you'll only have to think about doing those required services at the same time every year," said Adam Shaivitz, Texas DMV Public Information Officer.

Texas is giving drivers time to get used the new system. During the first year you'll be able to renew your registration as long as you have a valid inspection sticker.
