AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorns didn't handle TCU too well in the regular season, falling in both contests. But in the NIT semifinal, Texas was more than ready.
They say it's hard to beat a team three times in a year, and that was the hope of the Longhorns.
It was a solid start for Texas, thanks in part to Kerwin Roach who quickly tallied nine points and finished with a team-high 22 points. The Horns were executing and shooting the ball well from the jump, ending the game making 42.8 percent of their shots.
Defensively, they held TCU to it's lowest scoring half with only seven field goals. In the second half, the Frogs cut the lead down to five points, but the Longhorns weren't letting up this time.
Texas defeats TCU, 58-44 to advance to the NIT Championship game where they'll face Lipscomb for the title.
