It's a quote that sums up where I've been and where I still have to go. I am overjoyed that my path led me to Austin.
I report for KVUE's Daybreak and Midday newscasts, a perfect job for a morning person like me!
I came to Austin from WROC in Rochester, NY where I was the weekend anchor/reporter. During my three years at the station, I covered the aftermath of the tragic Christmas Eve ambush on the West Webster firefighters and the controversy surrounding bullied bus monitor Karen Klein. I also traveled to New York City for in-depth coverage of Hurricane Sandy, and the 10th anniversary of September 11.
My first job in front of the camera was as a reporter at KFDA in Amarillo. While in that role, I flew with the Thunderbirds at Cannon AFB (doing 9G's!), and traveled hundreds of miles in one week to cover the massive wildfire outbreak that burned over a million acres in the Texas Panhandle. I then found out morning television was my passion when I became the station's morning newscast co-anchor.
My career in news began as a broadcast associate with the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather and then Bob Schieffer. In that role I helped producers and correspondents from bureaus across the globe gather video for their stories. My most memorable projects included extensive coverage of Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the Washington D.C. sniper shootings.
The most significant story of my career so far has been the September 11, 2001 tragedy. My work on that story earned me an Emmy Certificate from the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences.
My first job out of college was a broadcast associate for CBS News Productions, where I contributed to several documentary projects for the A&E Biography series and the Travel Channel.
My interest and love for broadcasting took shape during my years at The State University of New York at Oswego as a broadcasting major and news anchor at the college TV station WTOP. I also interned at WTVH-TV in Syracuse, NY and at a television-marketing firm in London, England.
I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. I spend my free time exploring my new hometown with my husband, trying out new restaurants and tweeting up a storm. I'm a huge sports fan, and you'll find me rooting for the Buffalo Bills, the Texas Longhorns, the New York Rangers, of course the bombers from the Bronx, the New York Yankees.
