AUSTIN, Texas — The microphones were hot during a recent Texas Longhorn spring football practice.
The Longhorn Network mic'ed up quarterback Sam Ehlinger and Head Coach Tom Herman. The edited feature captured both in their truest form, their personalities and their humor.
For example, former UT punter and current Seattle Seahawk Michael Dickson paid a visit and Ehlinger greeted him: "Hey, Dickson. That's an all-pro punter, Coach."
UT Offensive Coordinator Tim Beck can be seen playing the role of a running back on an offensive play.
Joining Ehlinger during a break from practice was former UT quarterback great, Colt McCoy. Herman asked Ehlinger about Colt and how Ehlinger idolized him while he was a quarterback at Westlake High School.
"It's just different now, obviously just being here, it's not like stardom any more," Ehlinger said. "Being friends with him now, he's a super cool dude."
Perhaps the best exchange was from Coach Herman regarding a dinner at his home. Herman and his wife, Michelle, hosted a certain Oscar-winning actor.
“One time, McConaughey came to my house for dinner and brought his kids and Michelle is like, ‘What am I supposed to make for dinner for a supermodel and the world’s sexiest man Oscar winner?'" Herman said. "I’m like, ‘He’s kind-of a normal dude, we’ll just grill some steaks.’”
The video concluded with a preview of the potential threat the Longhorns have in freshman athlete Bru McCoy.
Ehlinger connected on a deep pass with McCoy on the sidelines.
