Westlake, Cedar Ridge and Vista Ridge girls basketball teams advance to third round of playoffs

The second round of girls high school basketball playoffs began with three Austin area wins.

The Westlake Chaparrals had a tough test in the second round of the girls high school basketball playoffs.

The #15 team in the state took on ninth-ranked Brandeis out of San Antonio. 

But, the Chaps had a 16-0 run in the second quarter that led them to a 16-point win, 60-44, with Presley Bennett leading the way.

Westlake now plays tenth-ranked Converse Judson in the third round next week.

Cedar Ridge and Vista Ridge won games in College Station, setting up a third round match-up between the two schools. 

Cedar Ridge beat Klein Collins, 50-34, while Vista Ridge dominated the first quarter against College Park to win, 65-52.
