AUSTIN — Earlier this summer, the Austin Country Club voted to approve an extension with the PGA to continue hosting the Dell Technologies Match Play. The fourth edition of the event is set to begin March 27, 2019, at Austin Country Club.
Jordan Uplegger, the executive director of Dell Match Play, announced Thursday that tickets are on sale on the same day and daily ticket sales are available for the first time.
Today's celebration was focused on a significant donation: a donation to five Austin-area charity partners of Dell Technologies Match Play. Allison Dew, Dell's chief marketing officer, listed the partners who will benefit from $1.2 million raised.
- The Austin Parks Foundation
- Keep Austin Beautiful
- The First Tee of Greater Austin
- Helping Hand Home for Children
- Boys and Girls Club of the Austin Area
The check presentation took place at The First Tee of Greater Austin. Austin Mayor Steve Adler was on hand to help present the check and praise the efforts of Dell Technologies Match Play and evolve as the City of Austin grows.
"There is something special about the spirit and soul of this city," said Adler.
KVUE's Shawn Clynch asked Mayor Adler about the growth of Dell Match Play and with Major League Soccer on the horizon, both occurring on his watch.
"It's pretty exciting, you know, a lot of people still think about Austin as this sleepy little college town, but we're the 11th largest city in the country," said Adler. "With that comes opportunities like this tournament, like MLS. The city now is getting used to saying we can leverage these things to really drive community benefits."
Over $3 million has been raised for charity since Dell Technologies Match Play since 2016.
The 2019 Dell Match Play will take place March 27 through March 31 at Austin Country Club.
