Burnet loses to Hardin-Jefferson in state semi-finals

The Lady Hawks got a big second half to win, 49-44.

The Burnet girls basketball team's first trip to the State Tournament ended in disappointment.

Hardin-Jefferson, from the Beaumont area, made the second half comeback to get the win, 49-44.

Burnet tried to slow down the high-paced attack of Hardin Jefferson, and it worked early on. Bulldogs led 19-17 at halftime. But the Lady Hawks scored 16 in the third to grab the lead and hold on for the win.

Burnet's Emma Lewis was the leading scorer, with 17 in the game. Hattie Blair added 10.
