ARLINGTON, Texas — The Mason Punchers have won the 2A-I State Championship in High School football, beating New Deal High School 44-6.
The game was played at the home of the Dallas Cowboys -- AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Mason scored first, thanks in part to a 35-yard pass from Otto Wofford to Zach Norman that set up a one yard quarterback keeper by Wofford. Mason took a 7-0 lead and never trailed again.

From there, Klay Klaerner and Jake Cockerham took charge on offense, running through the Mean Green defense of New Deal. Mason led 24-6 at halftime
The offensive success for Mason continued in the second half with Jake Cockerham scoring on a 54-yard run. And Klaerner continuing to find the end zone with tough runs.
Mason won the state title back in 2011 and they're now adding this win to their collection.
