One might think being the son of former Texas quarterback, Mark Murdock, would naturally lead to a football career. For sophomore Drew Murdock, who plays basketball and football, it did until recently.
"My mom has always been a golfing legend in the house," said Drew.
"It would be just the two of us that would play, and I taught him all along," said Jenny Murdock.
When your mom is Jenny Murdock, formerly known as Jenny Turner: Westwood High School state champion, former Longhorn and LPGA golfer, well you might try your shot on the links.
"I've always said golf is the smarter sport than football after watching mark for all those years," said Jenny.
"In Houston, everybody talks about my dad and his football but when I come up to Austin and I say my name is Murdock, everyone says 'Oh you're Jenny's son,'" said Drew.
It's nothing Mark takes offense too. While he's taught his three sons in the traditional sports like football and basketball, he knows golf is Jenny's turf.
"She's been such a great mom but kind of a secret weapon for them with her background in sports," said Mark, "Then when it comes to golf, I back off totally and I'm just sort of the cheerleader."
"She's always looking out for us, doing whatever she can. I mean right now she's in a boot and still coming to all of my tournaments," said Drew.
That's dedication, but for the Murdock family, there's no other way.
