Former Longhorn Jordan Whittington taken 213th overall by Los Angeles Rams in 2024 NFL Draft

Whittington was one of the leaders in the Longhorns' locker room during the team's 2023 run to the Sugar Bowl.

AUSTIN, Texas — Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Jordan Whittington is heading out west.

Whittington was taken 213th overall by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Saturday.

During his time at Texas, Whittington evolved from a status of being a highly-touted four-star prospect into a veteran presence and leader in the Longhorn locker room, eventually finishing his Longhorns career with 141 catches for 1,757 yards and five touchdowns over five seasons.

Whittington will now join the Rams for rookie minicamp and training camp ahead of the NFL preseason, as he works to make his way onto the team's 53-man regular season roster. He will have a chance to be an understudy for elite NFL wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua as he learns head coach Sean McVay's offense.

If Whittington does make the roster, it will most likely be as a special teamer early on. He may also spend time on the practice squad.
