AUSTIN, Texas — The transfer portal season hasn't been overly kind to Tom Herman's Longhorns recently -- but attrition in college football is common during the winter.
But, the Longhorns have gained a highly sought-after prospect through the NCAA's transfer portal. Bru McCoy, 247Sports' top rated 2019 athlete, has transferred from the University of Southern California to Texas.
The University of Texas confirmed Friday afternoon that McCoy has signed and sent his athletics aid agreement form to UT.
Adam Maya, a beat writer for @USC_Rivals, tweeted Thursday that McCoy was mulling a transfer to Texas.
McCoy reportedly signed with USC due to the school hiring Texas Tech's former head coach, Kliff Kingsbury, as the Trojans' offensive coordinator.
Kingsbury is now the head coach of the National Football League's Arizona Cardinals.
McCoy, a highly regarded recruit from California, chose USC over Texas on the early national signing day back in December.
