Tre Watson made a good choice.
"It's a blessing to be here," Watson said.
The Longhorns' running back joined the team earlier in 2018 as a graduate transfer. He earned a degree from Cal Berkley, which let him transfer and play immediately.
And he's made the most of his situation, playing in all 13 games and leading the team in rushing.
"God had a plan," Watson said. "This was all a part of it."
Watson actually has history against the Longhorns. In 2016, he played on the team that beat Texas in California, running the ball six times for 11 yards.
But he only started eight games in three years at California. He's started 11 games for the Longhorns and is ready for his shot in the Sugar Bowl.
"It's why I came here, to play for championships and win championships," Watson said. "We have a great opportunity this upcoming Tuesday to do that."
Texas plays Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on January 1.
