AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns are back in the Top 5 after a bye week.
The University of Texas at Austin shifted from sixth up to fifth place in the Associated Press' Top 25 College Football Poll.
The Week 11 poll was released on Nov. 3, placing the Oregon Ducks at No. 1, followed by the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes and Miami Hurricanes.
Oregon defeated Michigan 38-17, while Georgia won 34-20 against the Florida Gators. Meanwhile, Penn State moved down to sixth place after a 20-13 loss to the Buckeyes.
Texas' most recent game was on Oct. 26, against the Vanderbilt Commodores. The Longhorns scored a narrow victory of 27-24.
The team fell from its No. 1 status back on Oct. 20, after losing to the Georgia Bulldogs 30-15 at home. The Bulldogs remain undefeated, while Texas' record is 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).
Earlier this season, Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers missed two games after straining his abdomen on Sept. 14 in a game against the University of Texas at San Antonio. Ewers returned to the field on Oct. 12, helping Texas earn a victory 34-3 in the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma.
The Longhorns are back later this week, hosting the University of Florida Gators at 11 a.m. on Nov. 9 at Darre; K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Additional rankings also come out at 7 p.m. Tuesday, during ESPN's first College Football Playoff (CFP) list of 2024, highlighting 12 different teams. These rankings are released at the same time each Tuesday.
