AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns will enter the SEC and their push for a second consecutive appearance in the College Football Playoff with a familiar face at starting quarterback.
On Wednesday, Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian confirmed that Quinn Ewers will remain the team's starter for the 2024 season.
"Quinn's our starter," the Longhorns' head man quipped during a Signing Day press conference, swiftly shutting down any news to the contrary.
The news is unsurprising, as Ewers set career highs in touchdowns, yardage and completion percentage all while leading the Longhorns to their first ever College Football Playoff appearance in 2023. The news does, however, mean that sophomore quarterback and former national No. 1 recruit Arch Manning will once again serve as the team's backup barring any sort of injury.

Ewers enters the 2024 season as one of college football's top quarterbacks, leading a Longhorns team projected to be among the country's best once again. The expectations for Ewers have been reflected in early odds for the Heisman Trophy – one sportsbook named him the co-favorite to win the sport's top individual award.
Ewers chose to return to the Longhorns instead of entering the 2024 NFL Draft. His return, paired with a number of high-end additions through the transfer portal and a recruiting class that has consistently ranked among the nation's best, has resulted in serious national championship aspirations for the Longhorns ahead of the upcoming season.
The Longhorns' road to a national championship will not be easy, though, as the team will face a daunting schedule that includes defending national champion Michigan on the road, former two-time national champion and current odds-on favorite Georgia at DKR and the traditional Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma in Dallas.
Ewers and the Longhorns will take the field for the first time in the Orange-White Spring Game on April 20.
