AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns softball team is set to face off with rival and college softball powerhouse Oklahoma in the Women's College World Series Championship.
The three-game series, which starts on Wednesday, will feature the nation's two top-ranked teams facing off in a rematch of this season's Big 12 Championship, which saw the Sooners top the Longhorns 5-1. The teams split the overall season series 2-2, with the Longhorns winning two out of three games in a series against the Sooners in early April.
Despite losing the Big 12 Championship, the Longhorns still earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Both teams only lost once during the tournament, although the Longhorns have yet to lose in the WCWS, while Oklahoma has had a tumultuous WCWS so far, losing once to Florida and narrowly winning the rematch via walk-off.
Game 1 airs Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Central on ESPN, while Game 2 airs Thursday night at 7 p.m. If a Game 3 is warranted, it will air at 7 p.m. on Friday night. All games will take place at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
