COLLEGE STATION, Texas — In a series that has been disputed as a true rivalry, but still produced entertaining results over the past several seasons, the latest chapter of Texas A&M vs LSU will showcase a new look for the Aggies.

Unveiled prior to the start of the 2024 season on Aug. 14, a short video that laid out Kyle Field at night showed A&M's traditional jersey in black and white, sparking rumors about which of Texas A&M's home field opponents the new uniforms would be debuted against.

With the Tigers set to come into town for a pivotal matchup for pole position in the SEC, not-so-subtle hints that the Aggies' primetime game on Oct. 26 will be when the new jerseys have been dropped, with head coach Mike Elko even telling the typically Maroon-clad fanbase to find some black-colored A&M apparel to wear to the game. The Aggie football creative team has even been teasing highlights from practice without color, further alluding to what can be expected this coming Saturday.

The Aggies haven't strayed much from the traditional Maroon and White getup that they've become known for over the years, but there is a brief history of fun alternate uniforms that the team has sported in the past.

When A&M was under the direction of former head coach Kevin Sumlin in their first few years in the SEC, the team sported primarily black uniforms with Maroon stripes and black and maroon gradient helmets against Mississippi State in 2012.

A similar uniform combination was sported in 2015 when the Aggies faced South Carolina and LSU that year that used a similar color concept to the ones used three years prior, but instead had gray accents instead of maroon ones.

Texas A&M will be adding an all-black uniform to its rotation starting in the 2024 season.

A&M's opponents look to be contrasting the all-black look with their own all-white look that they sported last week in their 34-10 road victory over Arkansas in Fayetteville.

The game itself will determine who will sit in pole position in the conference standings and have the best shot at a trip to Atlanta for the SEC championship. It also will likely have an effect on who will make the college football playoff with the field expanded to include more teams this year.

Furthermore, the home team has won the past seven encounters, and this year's matchup featuring A&M and LSU in the top 15 of the national rankings has not occurred since 1987.

Kickoff between the Aggies and Tigers is set for 7:30 p.m. eastern (6:30 p.m. central) on ABC.
