Chiefs, 49ers fans celebrate Super Bowl across downtown Austin

Ahead of Super Bowl 54, hundreds of football fans swarmed TVs across the city to watch football's biggest night.

AUSTIN, Texas — Throughout Austin, fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and fans of the San Francisco 49ers watched as the Chiefs rolled to a 21-point fourth quarter to win their first Super Bowl in 50 years.

Chiefs fans packed The Tavern in Downtown Austin, while 49ers fans filled Oak Sports Bar and Grill to standing-room only. Both bars have become the official places to watch the Chiefs games and 49ers games, respectively.

“If we’re not in Kansas City, we’re not in Miami, there’s no better place to watch the game," Scott Watson, who arrived to watch the Super Bowl at 9:15 Sunday morning, said.

More Chiefs fans filled the bar's space than did 49ers fans at Oak Sports Bar and Grill, but both sides filled the night time air with screams and cheers for the teams.
