Watch the moment Longtime Texans WR Andre Johnson learned he was in the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Houston picked Andre third overall in 2003 and he spent 12 seasons with the Texans. He'll now be forever enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

LAS VEGAS — Former Houston Texans receiver Andre Johnson has been voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

The third time proved to be the charm for No. 80, who was a finalist for the honor three years in a row. The vote was announced during NFL Honors Thursday.

KHOU 11's Jason Bristol caught up with Johnson after the show and asked him what it was like when he learned he was heading into the Hall of Fame.

"When I got the knock, there were so many emotions running through my mind," he said. "After they told me, I had to go sit down and I had my hands on my head, like what just happened?"

Johnson spent 12 seasons with the Texans. He still holds several of the team’s records, including being the all-time leader in receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and 100-yard games.

After the Texans, Johnson went on to play for Tennessee and Indianapolis. Houston signed him to a one-day contract to allow him to retire as a Texan.

Johnson became the first player to spend the bulk of his career with the Texans to make the Hall of Fame.

A first-round pick in Houston’s second season in 2003, Johnson led the league in receiving yards twice, was a two-time All-Pro and had seven 1,000-yard seasons despite spending most of his career without an elite quarterback.

The only other Hall of Famer who played for the Texans was Ed Reed, who spent part of his final season in Houston.

Johnson is one of three members of the Houston Texans Ring of Honor. The other two are JJ Watt and the team’s late owner, Bob McNair.
