Scheduling college football games is often done years in advance.
There have been reports which state that the Texas Longhorns are lining up games with Georgia and Penn State from 2028 to 2031.
But, Texas A&M Athletic Director Scott Woodward decided to not accept an offer from Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte for a home-and-home series in 2022 and 2023.
“Chris Del Conte did reach out to discuss potential dates to consider with A&M and it didn’t work out," the school told KVUE. "That wound up being the years we agreed to a home and home with Alabama after A&M wasn’t available.”
A&M has Miami on their future schedules for those two years. Texas was supposed to play Ohio State, but when those games had to be moved, Del Conte opted for games with Alabama.
Should Texas solidify the dates with Georgia and Penn State, it may be 2032 or later before the Longhorns and Aggies play again. Texas usually plays just one marquee non-conference game each season.
Here is the future home-and-home schedule for the Longhorns:
2019 - LSU
2020 - at LSU
2021 - at Arkansas
2022 - Alabama
2023 - at Alabama

2028/2029 - reports of Georgia
