SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State announced Thursday that Head Baseball Coach Ty Harrington will take a temporary leave of absence from the team "due to health reasons and his ongoing bout with rectal cancer."
Harrington said he will return when he feels strong enough to lead. He was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in August 2014.
Assistant Coach Jeremy Fikac will take over while Harrington is on leave.
Harrington began as head coach for the Texas State baseball team in 2000. As head coach he has gone 507-381-1.
