AUSTIN, Texas — It has been six years since Tiger Woods played a match play format, but he got into form pretty quickly this week.
Not only did he make it to the weekend, but he defeated Rory McIlroy in the sweet 16 Saturday morning at Austin Country Club.
In the quarterfinals he faced Lucas Bjerregaard, and the 27-year-old pushed Tiger all day. Woods led most of the round, but they were all square going to hole 18. Lucas made his putt, while Tiger missed the four-footer.
Woods is knocked out of Dell Match Play, making it all the way to the quarters his first time in Austin.
Sergio Garcia was knocked out by Matt Kuchar 2-down as he conceded on the final hole. Rounding out the Final Four are Kevin Kisner and Francesco Molinari.
