AUSTIN, Texas — Since Elon Musk took control of Twitter in late October, many users have announced they will leave the platform due to Musk's business practices and personal views. Most recently, Musk's business choices related to advertising have led many to say they're logging off.
On Thursday, a popular local parody account said it is joining the exodus.
"Evil MoPac," an account dedicated to the traffic woes of Austin's MoPac Expressway, tweets daily memes about the city. But, on Thursday, it announced it is stepping away for now.
In a rare moment of sentimentality, Evil MoPac tweeted, "This account means a lot to me, just like so many of y'all do." It then added it is stepping away because it is unwilling to let its "creative voice support, even passively via ad $, the horrifying human at the top of this food chain."
Evil MoPac said "if things change down the road," activity will resume on the account.
