WIMBERLEY, Texas — As the summer season approaches, one swimming destination will likely remain closed to visitors: Jacob's Well.
Jacob's Well, a natural spring located in a corner of Hays County, has announced that the swimming destination will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
Earlier this month, David Baker, the founder and executive director of the Watershed Association in Wimberley, explained that Jacob's Well was barely flowing.
"It is getting up to half of a cubit foot, 0.6 cubic feet per second. That's a fraction of what it should be," Baker said.
The update shared on the Jacob's Well Facebook page Thursday stated that the water levels and conditions are "still unsafe for swimming" and the spring will "remain closed for swimming for the foreseeable future."
Baker had explained that the swimming destination would need at least two cubic feet to recover from the drought and allow visitors to swim again.
The post also stated that the swimming reservation link would not be published until officials are able to confirm that swimmers would be safe at the spring.
